If you’re hear reading this blog, we have to admit something to you. We’re not just writing this blog to help you. We’re not just writing this article to improve credibility through blogging (although that is part of it). We’re writing this article to improve our website’s SEO through blogging. But how and why does this work?
Generally speaking, blogging helps expand content on your website and better inform search engines on what your website is about. Here, we’re obviously talking about SEO, because that’s one of our services. We want to rank for things like Mornington Peninsula SEO agency. Why? Well, because our SEO services are great and if we’re pushing SEO, we should be ranking well for it!
Let’s go into more depth.
Blogging Expands Depth and Breadth of Content
Search engines like Google want to connect users with the information that user wants. That may sound obvious, but think about it for a second. That’s ultimately what they want, and that’s the cornerstone of our SEO philosophy. While you can do keyword research, trying to anticipate what people are searching for, and optimise for that, generally expanding the information on your site raises the chances you’ll have information someone is looking for.
With that in mind, having deeper information is considered more credible by search engines. Sure, you can have dedicated landing pages for specific searches, like our landing page targeting Frankston digital marketing agencies, but going deeper and wider on digital marketing topics in our blog (like we’re doing now) adds more than what we just put in the landing page.
Blogging Helps Create Internal Links
We go more into this in our article on why internal linking is important for SEO. Basically speaking, links provide more context for search engines about what a given page is about and also help tell search engines the relative importance of a page in relation to the overall site architecture.
Blogging gives plenty of opportunities to create links within the site, giving more context and credibility to your landing pages (and other blog articles for that matter).
Blogging Can Help Attract External Backlinks
You probably already know that backlinks to your website can help with SEO. Naturally getting backlinks to a website can be difficult though. By creating great resources, you give other websites a reason to link to you and therefore increase the chances of getting backlinks.
Furthermore, if you’re doing outreach to other websites in order to try and gain backlinks, good blog articles give you something to approach other websites with.
How Often Should I Blog For SEO?
This is always a tough question to answer. It really depends on your niche and how difficult some of the topics may be to rank for. While you can’t really overdo it, you can overdo. You should be aiming for quality of quantity while also making sure you blog on a regular schedule. This means a great article once a month is better than a lot of bad articles done on no real schedule.
If you can be blogging once a week, that’s great! If you can only do it once every two weeks or once a month, that’s OK too. Less than once a month though and you’re starting to get irregular with it. Just remember, quality not quantity.
So That’s How Blogging Helps SEO
There are a lot of ways that blogging helps SEO, and we’ve covered the main reasons here. We understand that it can be difficult to keep up with a good blogging regime though, so if you need help, we’re more than happy to be your content team.
